Simply Jesus Men's Conference - my reflections

Our wonderful church sponsored a Men's Conference last weekend in Palm Desert, CA

The theme of the conference: Simply Jesus

The goal was to bring men together for a concentrated time of worship, teaching, and prayer,
all focused on the name above all names, Jesus.

We had several guest speakers and there was abundant opportunity for the men to get to know each other and to learn how each might be able to best help the other to reach out to the world with the good news of the gospel.

I have been to a number church conferences but I must say that this one was, for me,
the most meaningful and helpful that I have ever attended.

In Mathew 28:18-20, Jesus gave a commandment for His followers to go into all the world, teaching everything that He had taught, Baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

One reason that this conference was special to me is that a friend whom I had helped lead to the Lord, asked me if I would baptize him right there, the next day, which I did.

The whole experience of being part of helping him find the Lord has been wonderful anyway, but his honoring me by requesting that I baptize him was extra special to me.

The Lord had radically and miraculously saved and transformed my friend over a year ago, and just watching him grow and worship at church every Sunday, side by side with my wife, well, WOW, that is what life is all about to me.

Space prohibits me from telling you all the special moments with the Lord which I experienced during this conference, but I want to mention one more which I value highly.

I was introduced to a fabulous Christian ministry JesusCentral.com Where people of all backgrounds learn about
Jesus.

The JesusCentral.com website is really exceptional in bringing Jesus to the world, especially China, a region of the world in which I also have been involved in reaching for many years now. Users at the JesusCentral.com website even have the option of choosing to view it in Chinese, and Arabic!

The website also contains extensive learning aids for all ages, including a free online course titled "Jesus 101" FREE INTRO COURSE - 6 weeks, 1 hour weekly. next Course Starts: November 16, 2009.

As an ordained minister myself and someone whose goal is to maximize the use of the Internet to spread the good news of Jesus, I have years of experience in web design and marketing, and I can tell you enthusiastically that I recommend JesusCentral.com as one of the most exceptional Christian websites I have seen, both in terms of it's extensive content and in terms of it's technically advanced programming.

I heartily recommend that you familiarize yourself with it and use the resources there to enhance your own education, and to share Jesus with people of all backgrounds to help them learn about Jesus!

Jesus Is A Friend of Mine (And a friend to you too!)

Today I am going to have a guest speaker speak to you below from John 4:34-38. His name is Jesus.

Jesus is a friend of mine!! Yes I believe that and I cherish that precious reality. He is also a friend and father to the fatherless. Those who reach out to Him will find Him!

Watch the song I sing: Friendship With Jesus. This is the song I have chosen to have sung at my own funeral. It is not a sad song, it is an especially wonderful song!

As friends of Jesus, he expects his disciples (us) to be co-laborers with Him:

John 4:34-38

Jesus said:

"My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me,
and to finish His work. Do you not say, 'There
are still four months and then comes the
harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your
eyes and look at the fields, for they are
already white for harvest!

And he who reaps receives wages, and
gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who
sows and he who reaps may rejoice together.
For in this the saying is true: 'One sows and
another reaps.' I sent you to reap that for
which you have not labored; others have
labored, and you have entered into their
labors."

Hate crimes bill, passed by House, now heads for Senate approval.

The so called "Hate Crimes Bill" passed the House and if it passes the Senate it will become law.

In my opinion this bill is simply TERRIBLE.

Bryan Fischer is director of issues analysis for the American Family Association:

"It could have a chilling effect on free speech and religious freedoms in the nation."

"For the first time in American history we are criminalizing thought," Fischer laments. "Thomas Jefferson said the reach of legislation should extend to actions only and not to opinions -- and now we are punishing people not just for what they did, but what they were thinking when they did it.

"It's also going to have a chilling effect on freedom of speech, especially religious speech. And [in] other places where these hate crimes bills have gone into effect, pastors have wound up in jail or fined for preaching a biblical view of homosexuality."

Using an oft used reprehensible tactic in politics, this bill is attached to a Defense Appropriations bill, an obvious attempt to force it's passing.

What is your opinion? I find it disgusting.

HB3200 a threat to the U.S. Consitution and Bill of Rights?

Hello my friends and fellow Christian believers.

Today I am posting a copy of an Internet article I just read. It is so revealing about the contents of the proposed Health care bill HB3200, I've made it the sole topic of today's blog.
The statements were written by Michael Connelly, retired attorney who, unlike many members of Congress, actual read HB3200. The facts are very disturbing to me:

Michael Connelly http://michaelconnelly.viviti.com/ is a Constitutional Lawyer and has read the entire health care bill and has some comments, not about the bill, but about the effects on our Constitution. It's a broader picture than just health care reform.

The blog will concentrate on my concerns as a retired attorney about the imminent and growing threats to our Constitution and our form of government. We have reason to be very afraid of what is happening.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE HEALTHCARE BILLS ?

Well, I have done it! I have read the entire text of proposed House Bill 3200: The Affordable Health Care Choices Act of 2009. I studied it with particular emphasis from my area of expertise, constitutional law. I was frankly concerned that parts of the proposed law that were being discussed might be unconstitutional. What I found was far worse than what I had heard or expected.

To begin with, much of what has been said about the law and its implications is in fact true, despite what the Democrats and the media are saying. The law does provide for rationing of health care, particularly where senior citizens and other classes of citizens are involved, free health care for illegal immigrants, free abortion services, and probably forced participation in abortions by members of the medical profession.

The Bill will also eventually force private insurance companies out of business and put everyone into a government run system. All decisions about personal health care will ultimately be made by federal bureaucrats and most of them will not be health care professionals. Hospital admissions, payments to physicians, and allocations of necessary medical devices will be strictly controlled.

However, as scary as all of that it, it just scratches the surface. In fact, I have concluded that this legislation really has no intention of providing affordable health care choices. Instead, it is a convenient cover for the most massive transfer of power to the Executive Branch of government that has ever occurred, or even been contemplated. If this law or a similar one is adopted, major portions of the Constitution of the United States will effectively have been destroyed.

The first thing to go will be the masterfully crafted balance of power between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the U.S. Government. The Congress will be transferring to the Obama Administration authority in a number of different areas over the lives of the American people and the businesses they own. The irony is that the Congress doesn't have any authority to legislate in most of those areas to begin with. I defy anyone to read the text of the U.S. Constitution and find any authority granted to the members of Congress to regulate health care.

This legislation also provides for access by the appointees of the Obama administration of all of your personal healthcare information, your personal financial information, and the information of your employer, physician, and hospital. All of this is a direct violation of the specific provisions of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution protecting against unreasonable searches and seizures. You can also forget about the right to privacy. That will have been legislated into oblivion, regardless of what the 3rd and 4th Amendments may provide.

If you decide not to have healthcare insurance, or if you have private insurance that is not deemed "acceptable" to the "Health Choices Administrator" appointed by Obama, there will be a tax imposed on you. It is called a "tax" instead of a fine, because of the intent to avoid application of the due process clause of the 5th Amendment. However, that doesn't work, because since there is nothing in the law that allows you to contest or appeal the imposition of the tax, it is definitely depriving someone of property without the "due process of law".

So, there are three of those pesky amendments that the far left hate so much, out of the original ten in the Bill of Rights, that are effectively nullified by this law. It doesn't stop there, though. The 9th Amendment that provides: "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people;" The 10th Amendment states: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved to the States respectively, or to the people.." Under the provisions of this piece of Congressional handiwork, neither the people nor the states are going to have any rights or powers at all in many areas that once were theirs to control.

I could write many more pages about this legislation, but I think you get the idea. This is not about health care; it is about seizing power and limiting rights. Article 6 of the Constitution requires the members of both houses of Congress to "be bound by oath or affirmation" to support the Constitution. If I was a member of Congress, I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything like it without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or affirmation. If I voted for it anyway, I would hope the American people would hold me accountable.

We cannot pretend that faith in God wasn't foundational to the lives of the earliest Americans ... we must not let anyone fundamentally reshape the landscape of this nation!

The reality is: the National Motto and the Pledge of Allegiance are both fully consistent with the Constitution: they echo the conviction clearly held by the nation's Founders that our freedoms come from God.

http://www.nationaltreasures.org/ gives examples of the many attempts to remove Christianity from our heritage.

My opinion is that this type of thing is often due to a misunderstanding of the term "Separation of Church and State" which has lost track of the fact that the free exercise clause states that no entity should "prevent the free exercise thereof" (religion)

To me, without a doubt, the most important question that every man and woman on earth most find the answer for is this: WHO IS JESUS, REALLY?

I know in my knower (my spirit) that I have the correct answer for this question!

I am not bragging, quite the opposite, I very nearly missed it and actually I am just very grateful that the Lord Jesus gave me a long rope and patiently waited for me just like he does for anyone sincerely seeking Him.

I am convinced that the Bible teaches that God has no "step children".

By that I mean that each man and woman must find Jesus, believe Him AND accept Him as a distinct decision of free will, repent of sins, and follow Him from then on.
